Asia Cup: Sachin to play, Sehwag dropped, Kohli is vice-captain

Mumbai: The big news, Sachin Tendulkar is part of the 15-member squad for Asia Cup, while out-of-form Virender Sehwag has been rested along with pacers Zaheer Khan and Umesh Yadav.

Virat Kohli, who powered India to a miraculous win last night against Sri Lanka, has been named the vice-captain in the absence of Sehwag.

The selection committee of the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) - Kris Srikkanth, Mohinder Amarnath, Narendra Hirwani, Surendra Bhave and Raja Venkat - met in Mumbai this morning to pick the squad for the tournament that begins in Dhaka, Bangladesh from March 12.

Srikkanth, chairman of selectors, clarified that no player has been dropped and the three players have rested due to injuries. Sehwag, who looked off-colour during the Australian tour, managed to score just 65 runs in 5 matches at an average of 13.

Tendulkar, who made 143 runs in seven matches Down Under, has been under tremendous pressure to take a decision on his one-day career. But the master batsman is all set to board a plane to Bangladesh. The tournament will be keenly watched as India will play old foe Pakistan, apart from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Yusuf Pathan, marked his return to competitive cricket with a 78-ball 114 to steer Baroda to a 52-run win over Saurashtra in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, has also been picked in the squad.

The selectors have retained Ravindra Jadeja as well as Rohit Sharma. Fast bowler Ashok Dinda has also got an ODI call.

Team India squad for Asia Cup: M S Dhoni (Capt), Virat Kohli (V Capt), Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Praveen Kumar, Vinay Kumar, Rahul Sharma, Yusuf Pathan, Manoj Tiwary, Irfan Pathan, Ashok Dinda.

Amartya Sen

Date of Birth:Nov 3, 1933
Place of Birth:India

Amartya Kumar Sen, born November 3, 1933 in India, is an economist and a winner of the Bank of Sweden Prize in Economic Sciences (sometimes referred to informally as the "Nobel Prize for Economics") for his work on famine, human development theory, welfare economics, the underlying mechanisms of poverty, and political liberalism. From 1998 to 2004 he was Master of Trinity College at Cambridge University, becoming the first Asian to head an Oxbridge college. Amartya Sen is also deeply immersed in the debate over globalization. He has given lectures to senior executives of the World Bank but has also shown his commitment to reform from below by becoming honorary president of Oxfam. Sen was born in Santiniketan, West Bengal, the University town established by the poet Rabindranath Tagore, another Indian Nobel Prize winner. Tagore is said to have given Amartya Sen his name ("Amartya" meaning "out of the world"). Sen first studied in India at the school system of Visva-Bharati University, Presidency College, Kolkata and at the Delhi School of Economics before moving to Trinity College, Cambridge, where he earned a BA in 1956 and then a Ph.D. in 1959. He was also allowed four years to immerse himself in philosophical issues during his stay at Trinity College. Sen's father was Dr. Ashutosh Sen and mother Amita Sen who were born at Manikganj, Dhaka. His father taught chemistry at Dhaka University (now in Bangladesh). Dr Sen's first wife was Nabaneeta Dev, with whom he has two children: Antara and Nandana. Their marriage broke up shortly after they went to London in 1971. His second wife was Eva Colorni, with whom he lived from 1973 onwards. She died from stomach cancer quite suddenly in 1985. They had two children, Indrani and Kabir. His present wife is Emma Rothschild, an economic historian, and an expert on Adam Smith and Fellow of King's College, Cambridge. Sen brought up his two children on his own. Indrani is a journalist in New York and Kabir teaches music at a school in Boston, and has a rock band called Uncle Trouble. He received the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics for his work in welfare economics in 1998 and the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award in India 1999. In 2002 he received the International Humanist Award from the International Humanist and Ethical Union. Eisenhower Medal, for Leadership and Service USA, 2000; Companion of Honour, UK, 2000. In 2003, he was conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Indian Chamber of Commerce

Photography 101: Debunking the megapixel myth

Invariably, the first question one asks about a camera is 'How many megapixels?' Most people think that they should go for a camera with the most number of megapixels. But that can actually be a bad idea. Manufacturers don't help by advertising megapixels over anything else. We'd like to take some time out here to talk about why more megapixels can be a bad thing.
Try fitting a hundred people in a space meant for fifty. They may all fit, but everyone would be very uncomfortable, won't they? Similarly, when too many pixels get packed into a sensor the size of a fingernail, the pixels aren't able to capture light optimally. Of course, when the light is aplenty and the sensor sensitivity is low (ISO 400 or less), one might get great images. But once we hit the 'low light' stage of the day and the sensitivity needs to be bumped up in order to capture a photo, we end up with a 'hot mess' of red and blue pixels.
The reason for this is that the conventional sensor in point-and-shoot cameras is of a fixed size (with an area of just a little over 1 cm) and there are only so many megapixels one can pack into that area without compromising image quality. The tradeoff in the megapixel war is between detail and quality. At the lower end of the spectrum, you get great image quality but not enough detail. As you crank up the megapixels, the level of detail captured goes up, but the image quality goes down. The optimal resolution range for a point-and-shoot sized sensor lies between 9 and 14 megapixels.

More megapixels mean better detail in images, larger prints, and also gives you greater control over image quality when you crop it. However, camera manufacturers realize that in order to by-pass the limitation imposed by the current sensors, only one of two things could solve the problem - either an increase in sensor size (something that would drastically increase the cost of cameras) or redesigning the sensor altogether in order to make it more efficient.

Since a larger sensor meant venturing into DSLR territory, manufacturers felt it best to work on the current sensor design. To this end, Sony created their first 'backside illuminated sensor'. A conventional sensor is designed like the human eye, with the lens in front, followed by a wire matrix and the photodiodes at the back. This design causes some of the light hitting the sensor to reflect off the surface, allowing lesser light to hit the photosite (light collecting pixels on the sensor). The backside illuminated sensor handles this problem by placing the photosite above the wiring matrix, eliminating the reflections caused by the same and therefore, improving light transmission by almost 40%.
This bump in performance now allows manufacturers to pack in up to 20 megapixels (so far) without compromising image quality not only in normal lighting conditions (day light, mid-day) but also in conditions where the light levels start to dwindle (sunset, or dimly lit rooms). So when you're out to buy a new point-and-shoot, it would be a better idea to invest in a camera with a backside illuminated sensor (denoted by BSI or BSI-CMOS).
Don't judge a camera or specially, a sensor by just the number of megapixels. The sensor type/ quality are much more important.

10 Amazing Facts about Dreams!!!

10. Blind People Dream
People who become blind after birth can see images in their dreams. People who are born blind do not see any images, but have dreams equally vivid involving their other senses of sound, smell, touch and emotion. It is hard for a seeing person to imagine, but the body’s need for sleep is so strong that it is able to handle virtually all physical situations to make it happen.

9. You Forget 90% of your Dreams
Within 5 minutes of waking, half of your dream if forgotten. Within 10, 90% is gone. The famous poet, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, woke one morning having had a fantastic dream (likely opium induced) – he put pen to paper and began to describe his “vision in a dream” in what has become one of English’s most famous poems: Kubla Khan. Part way through (54 lines in fact) he was interrupted by a “Person from Porlock“. Coleridge returned to his poem but could not remember the rest of his dream. The poem was never completed.

In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure-dome decree:
Where Alph, the sacred river, ran
Through caverns measureless to man
Down to a sunless sea.
[...]

Curiously, Robert Louis Stevenson came up with the story of Doctor Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde whilst he was dreaming. Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein was also the brainchild of a dream.

8. Everybody Dreams
Every human being dreams (except in cases of extreme psychological disorder) but men and women have different dreams and different physical reactions. Men tend to dream more about other men, while women tend to dream equally about men and women. In addition, both men and women experience sexually related physical reactions to their dreams regardless of whether the dream is sexual in nature; males experience erections and females experience increased vaginal blood flow.

7. Dreams Prevent Psychosis
In a recent sleep study, students who were awakened at the beginning of each dream, but still allowed their 8 hours of sleep, all experienced difficulty in concentration, irritability, hallucinations, and signs of psychosis after only 3 days. When finally allowed their REM sleep the student’s brains made up for lost time by greatly increasing the percentage of sleep spent in the REM stage.

6. We Only Dream of What We Know
Our dreams are frequently full of strangers who play out certain parts – did you know that your mind is not inventing those faces – they are real faces of real people that you have seen during your life but may not know or remember? The evil killer in your latest dream may be the guy who pumped petrol in to your Dad’s car when you were just a little kid. We have all seen hundreds of thousands of faces through our lives, so we have an endless supply of characters for our brain to utilize during our dreams.

5. Not Everyone Dreams in Color
A full 12% of sighted people dream exclusively in black and white. The remaining number dream in full color. People also tend to have common themes in dreams, which are situations relating to school, being chased, running slowly/in place, sexual experiences, falling, arriving too late, a person now alive being dead, teeth falling out, flying, failing an examination, or a car accident. It is unknown whether the impact of a dream relating to violence or death is more emotionally charged for a person who dreams in color than one who dreams in black and white.

4. Dreams are not about what they are about
If you dream about some particular subject it is not often that the dream is about that. Dreams speak in a deeply symbolic language. The unconscious mind tries to compare your dream to something else, which is similar. Its like writing a poem and saying that a group of ants were like machines that never stop. But you would never compare something to itself, for example: “That beautiful sunset was like a beautiful sunset”. So whatever symbol your dream picks on it is most unlikely to be a symbol for itself.

3. Quitters have more vivid dreams
People who have smoked cigarettes for a long time who stop, have reported much more vivid dreams than they would normally experience. Additionally, according to the Journal of Abnormal Psychology: “Among 293 smokers abstinent for between 1 and 4 weeks, 33% reported having at least 1 dream about smoking. In most dreams, subjects caught themselves smoking and felt strong negative emotions, such as panic and guilt. Dreams about smoking were the result of tobacco withdrawal, as 97% of subjects did not have them while smoking, and their occurrence was significantly related to the duration of abstinence. They were rated as more vivid than the usual dreams and were as common as most major tobacco withdrawal symptoms.”

2. External Stimuli Invade our Dreams
This is called Dream Incorporation and it is the experience that most of us have had where a sound from reality is heard in our dream and incorporated in some way. A similar (though less external) example would be when you are physically thirsty and your mind incorporates that feeling in to your dream. Example of this is the feeling of repeatedly drinking a large glass of water in the dream which satisfies, only to find the thirst returning shortly after – this thirst… drink… thirst… loop often recurs until he/she wake up and have a real drink. The famous painting above (Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening) by Salvador Dali, depicts this concept.

1. You are paralyzed while you sleep
Believe it or not, your body is virtually paralyzed during your sleep – most likely to prevent your body from acting out aspects of your dreams. According to the Wikipedia article on dreaming, “Glands begin to secrete a hormone that helps induce sleep and neurons send signals to the spinal cord which cause the body to relax and later become essentially paralyzed.”

Extra Facts:-

1. When you are snoring, you are not dreaming.
2. Toddlers do not dream about themselves until around the age of 3. From the same age, children typically have many more nightmares than adults do until age 7 or 8.
3. If you are awakened out of REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep, you are more likely to remember your dream in a more vivid way than you would if you woke from a full night sleep.

More mobiles than humans in 2012, says Cisco

Mobile devices will outnumber humans this year, according to network firm Cisco's latest analysis of global mobile data traffic.

By 2016 it predicts that there will be 10 billion mobile connected devices around the world.
By the same date networks will be carrying 130 exabytes of data each year, equivalent to 33 billion DVDs.
Mobile data traffic in 2011 was eight times the size of the global internet in 2000, according to the report.

Gigabyte club
The rise in data consumption is likely to cause more problems for mobile operators already struggling to cope with demand.
Currently the average smartphone uses 150 megabytes of data per month but this is expected to rise to 2.6 gigabytes by 2016, the report found.
"By 2016, 60% of mobile users - three billion people worldwide - will belong to the Gigabyte Club, each generating more than one gigabyte of mobile data traffic per month," said Suraj Shetty, vice-president of products and solutions at Cisco.
There are various factors that are pushing data consumption ever higher.
People are using more tablet devices which are even more data-hungry than smartphones, the report found.
According to Cisco, tablet use exploded in 2011 - tripling to 34 million devices, each of which is generating over three times more traffic than smartphones. By 2016 it predicts that tablets will account for more than 10% of global mobile traffic.
Streaming video
Another factor is faster networks. 4G is currently only available for about 0.2% of mobile connections but they already account for 6% of mobile data traffic, the report said.
Using mobile data on a 4G connection generates 28% more traffic than a non-4G connection, it found.
Apple's iPhones had a reputation for using up more bandwidth than other handsets but the study found that Android consumption is now equal to, if not higher, to iPhone consumption in the US and Western Europe.
Seb Lahtinen, from broadband news site ThinkBroadband, is unsurprised by the findings.
"Most of us use a smart phone on trains, but we still struggle to get a good signal.
"As speeds and quality increases, more users will start watching streaming videos on mobiles, which is likely to lead to an explosion in mobile traffic growth," he said.

Starring: Siddharth, Amala Paul, Suresh , Ravi Ragavendra
Director: Balaji Mohan
Producer: Sashikanth Shivaji, Siddharth, Nirav Shah
Banner: Y NOT Studios,Etaki Entertainment
Music: Thaman S

The movie Kaadhalil sodhappuvadhu eppadi is again a little different try in tamil cinema.

The movie's promotions targets youth:)
And the screen play and lyrics were perfectly blending for the story. Siddharth potrays the perfect urban youngster role. The movie even though has some serious emotions. the director has given a hilarious touch in almost every scenes . But it is not overdone is what the plus point. Amala Paul perfectly suits Parvathy character and the chemistry goes well between both. But yet ofcourse there were many tiny stories which is little boring in second half. Yet the movie is different try and it had came out well overall.
the songs were perfectly placed in needed places which didn't spoil the story. And camera goes well along the movie.

Director Balaji mohan had come out with a unique story and had indeed succeeded too.

Drinking Beer is not a Sin...Even Doctors saying it ..So come on friends Daily drink a beer and keep the doctor away !

Moderate and regular consumption of beer, like wine, can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, Italian researchers say.

The study conducted by Research Laboratories at the Fondazione di Ricerca e Cura "Giovanni Paolo II", in Campobasso, Italy, confirmed what was already known about wine: a moderate consumption (approximately two glasses per day for men and one for women) can lower the risk of cardiovascular disease, up to 31 per cent less when comparing to non drinkers.

What this research adds are new data on beer. For the first time, in fact, evidence about dose-dependent effect is shown for this beverage.

Maximum protection is observed, for a beercontaining 5 percent of alcohol, with a consumption of slightly more than an English pint a day.

"In our research we considered wine and beer separately: you first observe a reduction in cardiovascular risk with low to moderate drinking," explained Simona Costanzo, first author of the study.

"Then, with an increasing consumption, you can see that the advantage disappears, until the risk gets higher. The interesting part of our research is that, among the studies selected for this meta-analysis, there were 12 in which wine and beer consumption could be compared directly. Using these data we were able to observe that the risk curves for the two beverages are closely overlapping," she stated.

But beer as well as wine, drinkers, should be cautious before toasting too much at these results.

Augusto Di Castelnuovo, head of the Statistic Unit of Research Laboratories and a pioneer in alcohol epidemiological studies pointed out, "What we are talking about is moderate and regular drinking. I think we will never stress enough this concept."

"Wine or beer are part of a lifestyle. One glass can pair with healthy foods, eaten at proper time, maybe together with family of friends. There is no place for binge drinking or any other form of heavy consumption," he added.

The study has been just published online by the European Journal of Epidemiology.

Revolution Love (V-day special blog by stranger )

She was wearing a dark rose colour dress; panic struck in her face; moving clueless; “appaa appaa” her voice stammered & helplessly shouting “appa, akkaa is trying to run away with him from the temple, she is not listening me, I could not stop her, do something pa! do something!”
The scene we saw as we waited for two more of our friends to get in our vehicle during our get together trip last week. The people in our group tossed random comments. One said that the pair was a mismatch; another suggesting what the people gathering around should have done. It’s a mokka plan baas” one among us expressed his disappointment, how the plan was imperfect.
Imperfect plan?
---

My friends gathered in our shared accommodation were planning that so called perfect plan. Just couple more exams left in our UG final semester. Few of my friends were disappointed that I was quiet & not giving any inputs to them. The plan for 7 days seems okay for me, but what after that; Friends reminded me that I am rude & not sensitive to others feeling as I asked some questions on their plan.
Friends gathered at a temple, which was outside the city – the boy arrived – the girl arrived – the priest tried to explain that this marriage would be helping them legally – my friend made some flimy dialogues – marriage over – they been transported to a hamlet, which none could guess. The perfect plan was executed.

With the political influence that the girl side had and little sentiment drama by the girl’s mom, the police traced them down within 3 days. The police kept us busy during those days. The planners consoled them they did their best for that friend & certified themselves as ideal friends.
“Friends, you call yourself to him; why don’t at least one of you think of his meek parents” his mom asked us in broken voice. Everyone blamed the one, who insists to go & meet him at his home post his home return. His parents even then didn’t raise their voice against their only child.  We had our farewell party same evening. Once it started, we almost start forgetting him.
Less than 3 months later, I received call that the guy died in an accident (??), a lorry ran over him.
All this I was thinking as noise – pulling each other’s legs – fun going around as our vehicle was speeding.

---

I should call it’s just a mere coincidence as the friend who informed me about the death is the same friend I called few days before to check on some details and rent of vehicle, as he was running an travels earlier. After the initial conversation, he tried to do my mom´s job “marketing Marriage”. He explained how his life took a turn around when he married at the age of 22, etc... etc.. etc… But, what he categorically avoid telling me was the fact he was forced to married his 4th girl friend, when she got pregnant.
---

Posting a blog on Feb 14th & with such title, am I suppose to start it with a greeting “happy valentine’s day” to any of the above three kind of love pairs? Would Father Valentine have helped these pair, if he was alive during this era? My understanding about Father Valentine is all he helped the roman soldiers to get married during the reigns of King Gladius II, who banned marriage of his solider, as he believed that it would make them to lose interest in war.
A nice line which I read here written by NEEYUM NAANUM admin earlier this month, made me think & reflect a lot.

(Love! But, before you understand about your lover; understand love!)

I really wonder if we, the modern day (or the post modern day as some would call) lovers understands love in the right sense. Somehow we let the meaning of this action verb “LOVE” dilute; Love, the single action bundle with many values. We let most of the values for cheap purpose.

Most people may not agree, if we say love should have a purpose. But my POV is both the lovers together shall determine where they want to take their love; which should obviously marriage; a detailed SWOT of their love; all way to try & make achieve the purpose.
Commercialized Lover’s day is not posing a big threat, what all we going to lose is, buying a greetings or gift worth Rs. 30 for Rs. 150 – eating in a restaurant which slams you with X% extra taxes, without considering which income group we are in. But these are fine only if the lover’s are honest and their love is genuine.

Genuine love doesn’t need a PHYSICAL proof or PHYSICAL ACT of confirmation. Let we not make a gender debate that who makes the other victim or a discussion agenda what wrong when it’s consensual.

“It’s more important to win the war than conquering a battle.
Love is a battle; but life is a war.”

So it’s okay if we fail conquering a battle (after honestly fighting it). But at the same time, we should be having minimum damage to us as we go ahead with the other battles of the war. Guilt would definitely hurt us big; people these days regret for failing to arm them to avoid this hurt.

After saying all this, I won’t allow you blame our generation on the whole. We are known for our trial & errors; the very concept which gave lot success in other verticals of life. We are just exposed to new and adverse conditions unlike most our predecessor. Its only we know how much guilt, hurt & tears we got in this battle, which we are hiding each day as we keep fighting other battles of the war called life.

We are skeptical, if what we see & observe, learn & read of any worth. After all, even the bestselling authors of my nation, in each of their novels narrates that it’s okay for to be in bed with an opposite gender before marriage. It had even evolved to an extent that it doesn’t matter if it’s more than one person.

As we speak of revolution in education, corporate, politics, etc. We need a revolution in our personal being, which includes our ideology about the love.

  • This revolution may not make our parent’s option count but being honest to them.
  • This revolution should make us discipline & behave with dignity in public places.
  • This revolution should teach us patience against all irresistible, premature & pre-marital acts.
  • Even if this revolution leads us to saying a blind NO to love prior marriage, as a matter of playing it safe.

I could able to hear some of you saying “It’s written by some one side lover in envy or some gut-less & old fashioned lover unlike the modern day lover”

Take your time & think serious about this REVOLUTION LOVE now; failing which will make FEB 14TH MORE VULNERABLE OF BEING 1ST OF APRIL BEFORE APRIL.

If you're a nail biter

If you're a nail biter (or hair twirler or finger tapper), there's a good chance your habit started during childhood. About half of all adolescents bite their nails, but more than three-fourths of those will stop by age 35 Pediatric . Nervous habits like these are unconscious behaviors that we repeat out of anxiety, stress or boredom. Nail biters have what doctors call onychophagia.

Constant nail biting can lead to:
  • Split or fractured nails
  • Bleeding around the cuticles
  • Infections
  • Pain

One problem with nail biting is that it's considered socially unacceptable; ragged, bitten nails aren't attractive, and neither is the act of biting your nails. Some people bite their nails so badly that their fingers bleed, or the nails are so stunted that there is almost no nail left. But it's not just about having pretty hands -- in addition to having a negative impact on your appearance, nail biting can also affect your health.
When you bite your nails, you transfer bacteria back and forth between your mouth and fingers (which isn't where you want germs!). If you bite your hangnails, infections can grow under the nail bed. Even worse, you can permanently damage your nails, your gums and your teeth.
So if you're reading this article and looking at your ragged nails, wondering how to stop nibbling them,

There are a number of steps a person can take to stop biting their nails:
  • First and foremost, confront the source of your stress and nervousness.
  • Develop stress management techniques.
  • Keep your hands busy and distracted by writing in a journal, sewing, and knitting, planting or playing video games. Learn any activity that will be productive and keep the hands busy.
  • Have regular manicures
  • Try anti-nail biting polish such as Orly Nail Polish “No Bite’ Nail Treatment, Defender 10 Bite Ender, or Barielle No Bite Pro Growth.

Pink Fairy Armadillo

This is the smallest (only 12-15 cm) of all the armadillos and is the only one with such strange fashion sense. It has a very light pink bony armor like shell covering the head and body. The smallest of all armadillo species, it has a poor developed eyesight. However, long claws and sensitive sense of smell increase the efficiency of food hunting. When frightened or threatened, it covers itself in the sand within a fraction of minutes. They live only in Argentina on the sandy plains and in arid grasslands and brush land.

Do you know the default of animals ?

  • Elephants are the only animals that can't jump.

  • A crocodile cannot stick its tongue out.

  • A snail can sleep for three years.

Shark 360 mouse offers added precision

Console gaming occasionally gets a boost from add-ons that can make the standard controller more efficient to hold and operate. A new wireless mouse looks to replace the standard Xbox 360 controller altogether in hopes of giving fans of first-person shooters added precision and control.

The FragFX Shark 360 ($89.99 from SplitFish AG) gives a new feel to popular shooter games such as "Call of Duty," "Halo" and "Gears of War." It features the familiar colored A-B-X-Y control buttons akin to those on the Xbox controller. What's new is a start/pause button just under the scroll wheel to freeze the action when needed.

The package also comes with a USB device that plugs into the Xbox and communicates wirelessly with the controller mouse.

Finally, there's an analog controller stick, dubbed a FragChuck, that is held in the non-mousing hand. The FragChuck has three triggers, various buttons and a thumbstick to walk or run the player's character through the game, while the mouse handles the aiming, shooting and other tasks.

The FragChuck also sports an up-down-left-right directional pad that can quickly toggle the player through an array of weapons in shooter games. The directional pad can be programmed to handle other tasks as well by adjusting the settings from in-game options menus.

It's not the best solution for all games, but it's a welcome bit of kit for some titles, particularly the first-person shooters.

Ape versus machine: Do primates enjoy computer games?

A chimp genius can complete a computer memory test in less time than it takes the average person to blink - and much faster than any human rival. But do the world's cleverest animals enjoy these cognitive tasks?

Ayumu's daily routine resembles that of many 11-year-olds: sleep, eat, play and learn.
During his "study sessions" he receives a treat every time he correctly remembers the location of the numbers on screen and selects them in order.
"Research suggests that in terms of animal welfare, it's more important for tasks to be motivating and 'functional' rather than looking natural."

Word Art which replicates its meaning

Former creative director at Google and now at Facebook, Ji Lee, wrote a book named Word as Image containing  just 100 words. But these words-images don’t use any graphic content except the elements of the letters in the word itself. According to Lee, thus project started about 20 years ago when he got an assignment in typography class. He was really amazed how the letters can be modified to shapes giving infinite many possibilities. From there on, Lee took this art as a lifelong project for himself.

‘When we were children, letters were like fun toys. We played with them through our building blocks and we colored them in books. Soon, letters turned into words. Words turned into sentences. Sentences turned into thoughts. And along the way, we stopped playing with them and stopped marveling at A through Z. Word as Image brings a little magic back to the alphabet by helping us see the fun and humor behind the lines and squiggles’ – Ji Lee.
